Web sites are what the World Wide Web is all about - and there are zillions of them. Web sites are at the `end-of-the-line' between your PC, your local connection to your ISP, and the Internet. They are there for your shopping, curiosity, entertainment, education, or anything else your fantasies desire.
One of the initial challenges of using the Web was finding the site that had what you were looking for, and a lot of work went into publishing Web Yellow Pages and such. Today, `search engines' have made it easy to type in a subject, hit `search', and BINGO, there are all the sites that have what you are looking for. My favorite engine is www.searchalot.com because it uses all of the other engines out there to find what you want, and searches on your key words very selectively (not coming back with "we have found 256,000 matches in 423 categories that match your criteria!"). Searchalot has a lot of other features like news, weather, etc. that has made it my choice for my `opening page'.
To have a web site you have to pay somebody to `register' it for you (with whom I'm not sure) and `host' it for you (whatever that means). Even though I don't fully understand the process, it seems to work, and if you would like to have your own site, go to Your Web Site and see how to do it.
