Internet Programs

Internet programs are written in a programming language called HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and consist of "Browsers" that let you navigate from one web site to another, and "Web Design" programs that are used to create the sites themselves.  The big `add' to HTML over conventional programming is a feature called "hyperlink" which allows you to `jump' from one web page to another.  If you pay attention, when you are tuned into a web site and move your cursor around on the page, your arrow will turn into a little `hand' that will take you someplace else - THAT IS HYPERLINK!

The most popular browser in use is Microsoft Internet Explorer (part of the MS Windows Operating Systems) .  Lots of folks still use the #1 competitor, "Netscape", but as good as it is, it has problems in the MS operating environment.

For us `do it yourself folks', I cannot recommend a better web site design program than MS FrontPage (below).   On a challenge from a client to design him a web site (and having no experience whatsoever in the art), I bought the program  for $150 at Staples, went through the tutorial, and had a fairly complex site up and working in 2 weeks (now I can do a simple site in about 2 hours with the program).  If you would like to set up your own web site with these few tips, click on Your Web Site.
